LA Robotics Qualified for VEX World Championship!

Each year VEX Robotics releases a new competitive game. This year's game involves collecting rings on goals and balancing robots, goals, and rings on a platform. The process of building and programming the robot requires teams to use innovation, teamwork, communication, creative design, and problem-solving.

Lincoln Academy's robotics team placed second in the state of Maine and earned an invitation to this year's World Championship. At the World Championship, LA will compete with and against teams from across the US and Canada as well as teams from Andora, Australia, Azerbaijan, Chile, Colombia, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

Trip Expenses:

Our goal is $15,000. The campaign will fund these estimated expenses:

  • $1,200 for registration for the VEX Robotics World Championship,
  • $7,200 for airfare and ground transportation for the team of 12 students plus 2 chaperones,
  • $6,600 for lodging and food for the team for 5 days and 4 nights in Dallas

    VEX Robotics World Championship

The VEX Robotics World Championship, which is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest robotics competition in the world, is a week-long event that celebrates STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) learning. The world's best teams will compete this year at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas, Texas. The high school division competes from May 5th through 7th.

    Thank you for your support!

Our robotics team aims for our best, and we are thrilled with the outcome of our state competition season. Traveling to the VEX World Championship will give us the opportunity to meet other teams and experience the next level of competition in the fun and challenging world of high school robotics.

Thank you to Washburn & Doughty Associates, Masters Machine Co., LA Boosters, and the Doughty family for their leadership in funding this experience for our team.
